Kitchen Talk: Nexus of Climate and Conflict, Especially How Women Are Affected and What Women of Faith Can Do

On 8 October 2026, the Women’s Peace Committee of Soka Gakkai in Japan, in cooperation with the Women, Faith & Climate Network, hosted an online Kitchen Talk on the nexus of climate and conflict. The gathering brought together around 500 participants to reflect on the human and gendered impacts of climate crisis, conflict, displacement and insecurity.

WFCN was represented by Meryne Warah of GreenFaith Africa, who spoke about WFCN’s mission, the importance of women of faith in climate justice, and the emerging Kitchen Tables model as a way of building local, interfaith spaces for reflection, collaboration and practical climate action. The conversation showed how women of faith can connect local realities with global questions of peace, justice and ecological responsibility, while strengthening solidarity across regions, traditions and movements.
